Question 1

How long does it really take to see results from agentic AI?

Accepted Answer

It depends on your starting point. Some clients see improvements within weeks, especially when starting with a specific use case such as procurement automation. On average, meaningful results such as 15–20% cost savings can appear within 3–6 months, while full-scale impact typically takes around 12 months. The fastest-moving companies usually start with one specific problem instead of trying to solve everything at once.

Question 2

What's the actual timeline from we're interested to it's live?

Accepted Answer

Assessment and planning typically takes 4–6 weeks. Pilot implementation usually takes 2–4 months, followed by a full rollout that can take another 3–6 months after a successful pilot. The total timeline is generally 6–12 months depending on the complexity of the implementation.

Question 3

Do we need to hire new people, or can our existing team handle it?

Accepted Answer

Your existing team can handle agentic AI systems with the right training. Employees can shift from manual tasks such as placing orders and tracking shipments to higher-value activities such as strategy, analysis, and relationship building. Some organizations may add a data science or AI specialist to manage the system, but a completely new team is not typically required.

Question 4

What's this going to actually cost?

Accepted Answer

A small pilot may cost around $50K–$150K. A medium implementation covering a division may cost approximately $250K–$750K, while an enterprise-wide deployment can range from $1M–$3M or more. ROI depends on the use case, implementation scope, and savings achieved. Choosing the right initial use case is important for generating quick wins.

Question 5

What kind of ROI can we actually expect?

Accepted Answer

Companies can potentially achieve 20–40% savings in targeted areas, depending on their processes and starting point. For example, a company spending $5M annually on procurement could potentially identify $1M–$2M in savings. A business carrying $10M in inventory could potentially reduce inventory costs by $2M–$4M while maintaining or improving service levels. Logistics can also see significant cost reductions. A diagnostic assessment can help identify where the greatest opportunities exist.

Question 6

What if we implement it and it doesn't work?

Accepted Answer

Implementation can sometimes take longer or deliver less value than expected when objectives and expectations are unrealistic. That's why starting with a pilot is important. A pilot allows the organization to prove the concept on a smaller scale before committing to a larger deployment. Success metrics should also be clearly defined from the beginning.

Question 7

Won't this eliminate supply chain jobs?

Accepted Answer

Agentic AI is designed to automate repetitive and time-consuming tasks rather than eliminate the need for strategic human expertise. Supply chain professionals can shift from activities such as data entry and repetitive tracking to data analysis, strategic planning, problem-solving, and proactive decision-making.

Question 8

How do we handle change management when people are worried about being replaced?

Accepted Answer

Transparency and early involvement are important for successful change management. Teams should understand what the AI system does, which repetitive tasks it handles, and where human judgment remains essential. Involving employees early and showing how the technology supports their work can help improve adoption and reduce concerns about job replacement.

Question 9

What skills do people need to work with agentic AI systems?

Accepted Answer

Employees generally do not need to become data scientists. They should understand what the AI system can and cannot do, how to set decision parameters, how to interpret AI-generated results, and how to manage exceptions. Basic AI literacy and process knowledge are often more important than advanced technical skills.

Question 10

We're still running on systems from 2008. Can this even work with our legacy setup?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Agentic AI can often be integrated with legacy systems through APIs, integration layers, middleware, and other connectivity solutions. Older technology stacks may require more time and investment than modern systems, but integration is still possible. In some cases, the ROI from agentic AI can also help justify modernizing legacy ERP and other business systems.
